Public records are only useful when people can reach, navigate, and understand them.
Our accessibility goal
Paper Trail Politics aims to make its public pages understandable and operable across a wide range of devices, browsers, assistive technologies, and ways of interacting with the web.
Practices in the current site
- Semantic page landmarks, headings, lists, tables, and navigation labels.
- Keyboard-accessible links, controls, menus, and visible focus treatments.
- Text alternatives for meaningful images and labels for interactive controls.
- Responsive layouts and support for reduced-motion preferences where motion is used.
- Source links and explanatory text alongside visual summaries whenever practical.
Known limits
Some maps, charts, third-party documents, scanned filings, and source systems can be difficult to use with assistive technology. Older or generated pages may also need additional review. The project will continue improving text context, keyboard behavior, contrast, structure, and alternatives as those issues are identified.
Report an access barrier
If a page, control, document, map, or explanation creates an access barrier, note the page address and the task you were trying to complete. The Find an Error? page explains the current reporting process and will publish the direct intake channel as soon as it opens.
